Whitby is named after the nearby Whitby Falls and runs along the South Western Highway between Byford and Mundijong. About 1,000 people live across roughly 17 square kilometres (2021 Census), which points to larger rural-residential blocks rather than suburban lots, with sheds, dams and paddocks between the houses.

On a property like that, the best spot for a Starlink dish is often not on the house. A pole or shed mount out in the open can give a clearer view of the sky, but it means a longer cable run and a power supply at the shed or pole. That electrical side is where having a licensed electrician on the job saves you a second call-out.

Can you put the dish on a shed at the back of my Whitby property?

Yes, if the shed gives a better view of the sky than the house does. I will look at the options, work out the cable route back to the house, and give you a fixed quote before starting.

What about power at a shed or pole?

If the router and dish end up at a shed or another building, that building needs a power supply. Fitting it is electrical work that must be done by a licensed electrician, and I can do it as part of the same job (EC004537).

Will the nbn reach my Whitby block?

It depends on your address, and larger rural blocks can be the last to be connected. Use nbn's address checker, and if you are on fixed wireless or satellite, or nothing is available yet, Starlink is worth pricing.
